Welcome!

MOCA DC is a certified 501 (C) (3) Nonprofit Corporation incorporated in the District of Columbia and serving the greater DC region. As part of our mission to be “Open to All Artists All the Time” we embrace the creative spirit and offer opportunities to artists at every stage of their careers and from all walks of life

Our gallery is devoted to the age-old tradition of figurative art. We hold three annual exhibits dedicated solely to the nude: Erotica in March, A Celebration of the Figure in July, and Heads or Tails in November. The gallery is also home to the Figure Models Guild of Washington, DC (since 2002) which offers an original Model Training Program.

In April 2012, we will mark twenty years of continuous operation by expanding our scope to include three juried exhibits of figurative works a year. These shows will focus on the interpretation of the figure within contemporary art practice, and will be juried and curated by international artist, Lilianne Milgrom. This new venture will operate under the name UP.FRONT@MOCA.DC.

Over the years, MOCA DC’s longtime director David Quammen has contributed a unique social conscience to the gallery by supporting those who help others. MOCA DC has regularly donated exhibition space to individuals and groups who are championing a worthy cause, including veterans groups, homeless advocates and minority groups. We look forward to meeting all of you at our future events.
