MOCA DC is a unique gallery in that it is open to emerging artists and emerging art forms. And
while there is a preponderance of galleries in the greater Washington metropolitan area, none can
lay claim to being as receptive to this goal such that it is the major emphasis in our Mission
Statement.
We are a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit corporation, incorporated in Washington DC in 1995, and with a
current Certificate of Good Standing, issued by the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory
Affairs. We also are registered as a 501 (C) (3) corporation with the IRS, so donation and
membership fees are tax deductible.
We rely on membership dues, hanging fees and donations to sustain the gallery and to keep it as
free and open to the areas vast pool of artists who's work deserves to be shown. Unfortunately, our
rent was raised by about 11%, effective February 1, 2007. Therefor, we ask that you take the time
to consider becoming a member and participating in gallery exhibits and events.
Our rates are highly competitive to other galleries, and in fact are perhaps the most reasonable in
the area, save those where the rent is provided by another entity.
